The Spec Ops co-op mode also returns from Modern Warfare 2, though this time as survival gametype in which two players must fend off endless waves of enemies. Featuring most of the multiplayer mode’s elements, players rank up, attain killstreaks, and attempt to survive against increasingly challenging enemies in the hopes of posting a top-tier leaderboard score.
On the PC, Modern Warfare 3 will feature additional configuration options, allowing gamers to enable and disable Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, Depth of Field, Anti-Aliasing, Texture Resolution, Shadow quality and other detail settings. Three anti-cheat methods will protect the peer-to-peer ranked multiplayer and the unranked dedicated servers, and once again general multiplayer support will be provided by Valve’s Steamworks software.
All in all, Modern Warfare 3 is a refinement of one of the best-selling games of all time, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, nor would the franchise’s many fans want anything else.
